This past sermon series by Pastor Rick Smith focuses on spiritual warfare in the life of the believer. The Apostle Paul stated, our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). The battle being waged by Satan and his demonic forces against God and all who are associated & related to God is very real.
The believer should feel overwhelmed nor out-numbered in these battles, however. Paul also affirmed to us that, the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (II Corinthians 10:4-5). It was the Apostle John who declared, greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (I John 4:4). God has already won the war against Satan and his evil powers. The believer can stand in the confidence of that victory, but we must know our enemy, his schemes and the weapons God has equipped us with in order to maintain that victory.
